The Darrell Issa Witch Hunt

Darrell Issa, the new chairman of the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, said, “I want seven hearings a week, times 40 weeks.” He wants each of his seven subcommittees to hold one or two hearings each week. What happened to that small government the GOP/Tea Party called for? His investigations will increase the size of government by having 74 Inspector Generals hire staff to meet his demands. Is this the Republican version of job creation?

Are these investigations the new “McCarthyism” Michele Bachmann hinted at during the presidential campaign? How many tax dollars are going to be wasted looking for un-American activities? The government will go into a tail spin stall and not a thing will be accomplished. Is that the real intent of this witch hunt, to stop the Democrats from enacting any policies at all?

When Mr. Issa gets to the investigations of the Stimulus Bill, will he shut down? That just might happen when he finds well over one hundred Republican congressional members applied for that money to create jobs in their home states. After all they touted for almost two years the failure of the Stimulus Bill. Many Republican governors took stimulus money as well, and sat on it, without putting it to use or to bolster their own sagging economies.
